The latest – and quite possibly the hottest – craze in high-end custom swimming pools today is the all-tiled design, which popularly utilizes glass tiles. Not only is the glass tile approach breathtakingly gorgeous, it can mean significantly less maintenance for the savvy swimming pool owner.

Benefits of an All-Tile Pool

There is no denying the allure of an all glass tiled swimming pool. It’s sleek, sophisticated, and luxuriously elegant. Color choices are endless, and design patterns are limited only by your imagination. Tiles are typically glass-blown and come in 1-by-1 inch squares. However, some innovative tile companies are offering their 1-by-1 inch designs mounted onto 12-by-12 inch mesh, slashing installation time, which can save a pool owner hundreds of dollars in installation labor fees.

Alderete Pools offers a 10-year warranty on all their pools, and stresses that glass tile will last longer than plaster and fiberglass. “It doesn’t have to be resurfaced like the other materials do,” Shea notes.

Sure, the look of elegance may be expensive upfront, but the upkeep and maintenance costs are fractional compared to traditionally lined swimming pools. “With plaster, you just have the one membrane that will need to be replaced every few years.
